Why Should I Seek Counseling When I Can Research and Learn Techniques?

Updated: Sep 23, 2023

Why Do We Seek Counseling When There Are Techniques, Books, Videos, and Podcasts Available for Motivation? What Sets Us Apart When You Can Learn Techniques from These Sources?

Some of our clients come to counseling in despair after trying these techniques."

Counseling, like therapy and coaching, provides personalized solutions to individuals.

There can be several reasons why the technique you learned may not work:

  • The goal or habit you're trying to achieve might not be something you've truly internalized.

  • The technique or approach you learned may not align with the specific goal you're trying to achieve.

  • You may not be applying scientifically supported techniques.

  • Unaddressed emotional states can influence your success.

  • Lack of awareness about your self-talk or approach to yourself could be a factor.

Motivation is as complex as human beings themselves, as it is intricately linked to various aspects of our lives. Our motivation can be influenced by hormones, blood values, psychological issues, traumas, unconscious patterns, life values, and many other factors. This is why in counseling, apart from trauma and psychological issues (which fall under the scope of therapy), we aim to assist you with knowledge from various fields to address these multifaceted influences on motivation.

Our distinction from coaching (where we advocate multiple techniques) and therapy begins here. After the problem analysis phase is completed, when we move on to the planning phase, we can provide coaching services for follow-up. During this process, counseling has concluded, and the feedback process begins.
